CNN) A California woman has taken a unique approach to water conservation.
Robin Weld has installed an unusual fixture in her home -- a combination sink and toilet.
Weld ordered the item from Japan.
She says it saves ten gallons of water or more every day.
The system is completely sanitary -- the water that comes to the sink is routed in through its own pipe and then is recycled into the toilet.
"Just like any sink has a water source this is the water source from the city water," toilink user Robin Weld said.
The device Weld installed is called "sink positive."
This week, the state of California imposed mandatory water use restrictions.
